The classic mid-lake itinerary: where the three branches meet, between the Balbianello and the tip of Bellagio.
Three hours is the right amount of time to reach the centre of the lake without rushing. Beyond the villa shoreline the shore of Laglio and Villa Balbiano opens up, then the Lavedo peninsula with Villa del Balbianello.
At Bellagio we cruise slowly past Villa Melzi and the Serbelloni promontory, then return along the eastern shore by Nesso and Torno. On the way back the afternoon light hits the mountains above Tremezzo: the best moment for photographs.
