The villas you'll see
  • Villa Olmo — Neoclassical villa designed by Simone Cantoni and completed in 1797, named for the elm that once shaded its facade; the gardens are public.
  • Villa del Grumello — Eighteenth-century villa and park where the poet Ugo Foscolo stayed in 1808; today it hosts a cultural foundation.
  • Villa Sucota — Settecento villa on the old lakeside road, now home to the Franco Russoli foundation for modern and contemporary art.
  • Villa Erba — Grand nineteenth-century villa with a park that runs down to the water; the film director Luchino Visconti grew up here.
  • Villa d'Este — Sixteenth-century cardinal's residence above a cypress avenue, today one of the most famous hotels on the lake.
  • Villa Roccabruna — Eighteenth-century villa built against a red porphyry cliff, with gardens stepped down to private boat lifts.
  • Villa Taverna — Seventeenth-century villa whose terraced gardens, fountains and small temple were admired by an Austrian archduke.

Departure from and return to Como; duration includes cruising and planned stops. Skipper, fuel and water included; villa entries and meals are not. The skipper may adapt the route to lake conditions.

Cancellation & late arrival policy

• Full refund or booking credit if you cancel at least 20 days before the tour date. • Bad weather (strong wind, storms or conditions the captain deems unsafe) or unforeseen issues such as mechanical faults: we offer a full refund, a new date or booking credit. We always do our best to reschedule the date or departure time, subject to availability. • Cloudy weather is not bad weather and is not a reason for cancellation or refund. • Personal, family, travel, parking, traffic, train, ferry or other transport problems are not refundable. Please allow extra time. • If you are running late, contact us as soon as possible. Not telling us in advance may affect your booking. • Guests arriving more than 30 minutes after departure time cannot board and lose the full amount paid. No-shows are charged the full booking amount. • VABA Boats Lake Como may cancel, postpone, change or shorten a tour for weather, safety, operational or navigation reasons, or circumstances beyond its control. • By booking you confirm you have read, understood and accepted this Cancellation & Late Arrival Policy in full. Booking questions

How much do I pay online?+

You pay a 30% deposit to confirm the date. The balance is settled on board with the skipper on the day of the tour.

Is the price per person?+

No. The rate is for the whole boat with skipper, from 1 to 6 guests. From 7 to 11 guests we add €50 per hour.

What if the weather is bad?+

If the skipper cannot sail safely we move the tour to another slot or refund the deposit in full.

Can you pick us up at our hotel pier?+

Yes. Como city, Villa d'Este, Cernobbio and Blevio are included. Il Sereno, Mandarin Oriental, Passalacqua and Laglio add €50; Tremezzo, Villa del Balbianello and Villa Balbiano €400; Bellagio, Menaggio, Varenna and their hotels €500. The supplement covers the boat's transfer to your dock; the hours you book start when you board.
